For this project, I was tasked with creating a fully original app concept and brand identity from the ground up. I developed I Speak Med, a healthcare accessibility app that helps non-native English speakers find medical providers near them who can communicate in their preferred language. My responsibilities included brand creation, UI/UX design, icon and typography development, and full app flow prototyping in Figma.
Language barriers in healthcare can prevent patients from receiving proper treatment, accurately communicating symptoms, or booking appointments confidently. This challenge is even greater for older non-native English speakers, who may also struggle with navigating modern digital interfaces. Many existing medical apps assume technological fluency, rely heavily on English, or provide limited language support, leaving a large population without accessible care. I Speak Med is designed to be more than just a doctor locator. The app helps users navigate their entire care experience from start to finish. Because the app was designed for individuals who may have limited digital experience, usability and simplicity drove every design decision.
